Preaching the Eschaton: The Prophetic Voice in Troubled Times Dr. Stephen Reasor This session will encourage pastors to embrace the reality of ambiguity in the sermonic process and in the pulpit. Ongoing global events continue to be described in apocalyptic terms by the media, and have been understood as “signs of the times” by church members. This, coupled with growing division within churches on a multitude of issues, has tasked pastors with the need to prayerfully revisit apocalyptic portions of Scripture, with a humble realization that we do not yet fully understand many portions of Scripture, especially apocalyptic Scripture. This session will examine how, or whether, Adventist eschatology can serve as the unifying message and purpose of Adventism in uncertain, and unprecedented times. | |
